The Evaluation of the Geological Educational Program and its Comparison with the Teaching in the Classroom

The thesis is concerned with appraising the educational program of the Geology Teaching Center Říčany, in particular its influence on the pupils' attitudes towards geology. The benefits of field trips and outdoor education have been observed many times; however, mostly pupils' knowledge or skills were taken into consideration while their attitudes have been investigated fairly recently. Moreover, geology is regarded by pupils as 'the more boring part of nature' and hence I was interested in whether (and how) the non-standard form of education can change the pupils' attitudes towards geology. The objectives of the thesis were 1) to investigate what the pupils' attitudes towards geology are, and 2) to decide whether (and how) the specific geology field trip affects these attitudes and to compare this influence with the one of standard class education. The third, last objective consisted in stating whether the field trip in question will help pupils to understand how sundry topographic features were created. The presented three studies examine the potential benefits of using Khan Academy as a tool for assigning and assessing homework in mathematics at upper secondary schools. The studies deal with three groups of research questions. What is the attitude of pupils towards the Khan Academy implementation, and what benefit do they see in the online practice? Can pupils transfer acquired knowledge from Khan Academy to the school context? In addition to procedural knowledge, does Khan Academy develop a deeper understanding of the underlying concepts? At the time of the research, the author was the mathematics teacher of some of the participating pupils. Based on the results of these studies, the consequences and recommendations for teaching mathematics at upper secondary schools using online platforms are discussed at the end of the thesis. Lower-Secondary Students' Attitudes towards Selected Topics of Human Biology

The bachelor thesis deals with lower-secondary pupils' attitudes to selected topics from Human biology. The literature review focused on curricular documents and the concept of teaching Human biology and its goals at selected schools. There is the simplified analysis of selected human biology textbooks and researches with the similar objective as this thesis. The attitudes of basic school pupils were investigated with questionnaire survey. This survey included 220 pupils from selected schools in Vysočina Region. The questionnaire was also given to the teachers at these schools to find out additional information and compare their answers with pupils' answers. The results show that more than half of respondents consider human biology as interesting topic and they have positive attitude to it. Among interesting organ systems pupils mentioned reproductive and muscular systems. On the other hand, the nervous and vascular systems are considered as the least interesting topics in this field. They had also negative attitude to Latin terminology. Pupils stressed out the importance of the first aid knowledge as a part of Human biology lessons. They also mentioned the teacher as the crucial factor influencing their attitude to particular topics.
Microscopic Practice for Elementary School

The main aim of my thesis was to come up with a manual for microscopic practices for elementary school's biology classes that are useful and easy to understand. The practices were drawn from ordinary textbooks (such as Fortuna, Fraus, Jinan, Natura, Nová Škola, Prodos, Scientia, SPN) that are often used for teaching pupils from 6th to 9th grade of elementary school. I also added interesting facts and practices which were drawn from the internet. I also focused on the pupil's attitude to microscoping using special questionnaires. Pupils wrote that their relationship with microscoping is positive and it helps them to understand the biology curriculum more. Furthermore, I gained information about the frequency that they practice microscoping at school. Although there are not enough biology lessons overall, I find out that most teachers usually manage to practice microscoping in class once every two weeks. In the theoretical part of the thesis, I focused on the structure of the optical microscope, which is used in classes and on the making of a temporary and permanent preparation. I also clarified the importance of microscoping practices and the pupil's opinions about it. Lastly, I added an overview of biology textbooks used in primary schools and grammar schools. Usage of dissection of invertebrate animals in education of biology at secondary school

The thesis is focused on anatomy and implementation of dissections of 4 selected model invertebrates in school practice. The selected model species include swan mussel (Anodonta cygnea), stick insect (Medauroidea extradentata), cockchafer (Melolontha melolontha) and sea urchin (Echinus esculentus). In case of the cockchafer, the text is based on this model species, but the supporting photographs of dissection are taken from the tropical cetoniid beetle Pachnoda, which has very similar internal anatomy with the cockchafer. For all selected animals, I describe external and internal morphology as well as recommended methods of obtaining the material, proper killing of specimens, and dissection techniques. The text is supplemented with original digital macrophotographs. The thesis includes also an overview of primary and secondary school textbooks with focus on anatomy of the selected animals. The text is supplemented by a glossary of morphological terminology used in this thesis. Attached is a photographic atlas of dissections, which is a combination of this master thesis and my bachelor thesis (defended in 2010), in which I dealt with five model invertebrates in the same way. Primary school pupil's attitudes to the joint education with disabled pupils

This thesis is focused on the issue and possibilities of an education of disabled pupils in primary schools. The first two chapters deal with basic terms relating to this issue and are focused on legislation, current trends in the area of an education of disabled pupils, outline possibilities of integrative and inclusive education and consultancy services in the Czech education system. The third chapter brings an overview of current situation concerning education of these pupils in the Region Pardubice. Last chapter is dedicated to analysis primary school pupils' attitudes to the joint education with disabled students.
